Do Not Go Alone Into The Woods

The path at my feet fades into the darkness of the woods,
Yet follow it, for the sake of the answers that I seek,
My feet follow the narrow strip of naked, wet earth,
Touching my skin as I pass, gentle spirits soothing mine.
The trees were black trunks against the deep-bluish of the sky,
The path deep brown, and the stones bleached by moonlight,
No silvery lights penetrating the dense canopy of the forest,
Unsaid dangers lurking here and there, haunting my might.
Sinking to the damp, cool of the soothing earth,
I start loathing my very own callous heart,
Darkness pressing in from all of my sides,
I really didn't care if they got me, and gave me hell.
Robbing me of my senses, heightening the others,
Even the susurration of branches heavy for my ears,
The blackness nurtured a sense of claustrophobia in me,
And I felt my demons crowding me, with a final evil smile.
